Transponder Keys

At Al’s Locksmithing & Security, we can cut and program transponder keys and remotes on site using our specialised tools and equipment.

Transponder keys were introduced by car manufacturers in the 1990s to reduce the theft of vehicles. All keys in Australia manufactured since 2000 have had a transponder for security purposes.

What is a transponder key, you ask? These keys have a radio frequency transmitter inside, which transmits a low level signal that the vehicle can detect when the key is in the ignition. There is a receiver device near the ignition switch that detects the key.

If the car does not detect the signal from the transponder key it will not start. Even copied keys may not start your car if not done using the correct equipment.

When you choose our team, you’re in safe hands. Once we cut the key, we’ll program it to work with your vehicle. We’ll even test it to make sure that everything is working correctly before we leave.
